I truly left this novel feeling not only like I've stepped on a nail, I finally found the book to dethrone novels like Fifty Shades of Grey as some of the worst pieces of fiction published in the better part of a decade. If I could give it less than one start, I would. Andrews' vast archive, My Sweet Audrina-is just as bad as one would expect.

Whitefern-the sequel to one of my favourites and most disturbing of V.C. Each release has gone through multiple prints and even decades after she has passed-a ghost writer has grossly taken on her legacy and continued to milk her name for all its worth. Her most iconic works-and amongst the most twisted-are often topics in popular culture and this has hardly changed in the decades since her novels were first published. Teenage sexuality and abuse are often her calling card but frankly a lot goes down in her work. To unbearably dark challenges her characters face. Her literature has never been an easy thing to swallow.Įven those who've never picked up a forbidden release from this iconic author, chances are you've heard of her catalogue. Gothic Horror has always been her strongest genre and nearly all of her work defines at least five trigger warnings. Andrews is/was the queen of disturbing young adult sagas that were, more often than not, banned for their explicit and controversial content. Andrews* | Rating: ★☆☆☆☆Īs you, no doubt, know by now V.C. I’ve preordered this one, and I fully intend to clear my schedule to read it the minute it hits my Kindle.Whitefern by V.C. Andrews as I could when I was kid, that’s really saying something. Holy crap, you guys!! How did I not know this was coming until last week? My Sweet Audrina has to be one of the most crazysauce this-cannot-really-be-a-book book that I’ve ever read. But after years of relative quiet, the dark days of Whitefern may have returned… Why I’m looking forward to it: Audrina promised her father she’d watch over the young woman. Trapped in the middle of it all: her fragile, simple sister-the beautiful, trusting Sylvia.

And she can’t help but wonder what had made her father change his will at the last minute? What did he know about Arden that she didn’t?

And while Audrina didn’t anticipate running the family business, she’s curious to do so. Arden’s protestations become frantic, nearly violent. When the reading of her father’s will reveals that Audrina herself will control fifty-one percent of the family brokerage-the halls of Whitefern again don’t feel safe. But then, the death of Audrina’s father changed a great many things. He didn’t used to be this ambitious, expansive…this cruel. Andrews’s strangest, most beloved books-and now a Lifetime movie! Whitefern swallowed Audrina’s childhood-and now the sprawling Victorian mansion threatens her adult life too…Īudrina remembers a better time, when her husband, Arden, was a young man with a heart filled with devotion for her. The long-awaited sequel to My Sweet Audrina, one of V.C.
